Minutes of February 16, 2005 2. Project Status Report (Attachment) Motion: To Approve the Consent Calendar Vote: Approved unanimously DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. Newport Beach Lexus Project Overview Sharon Wood introduced Casey Griffin, the project's manager, who presented an overview of the proposed Lexus dealership in Newport Beach. He gave a PowerPoint presentation showing the latest proposed site plan, architecture, and computer-generated visual simulations, and noted: O Lexus outsells Mercedes Benz in every market but Southern California O There is public demand for a new Newport Beach/central OC location O David Wilson of the Wilson Automotive Group (Tustin Lexus, Toyota of Huntington Beach and Orange, and other dealerships) is the project applicant O The NB store would be a major "flagship" dealership for Lexus O The proposed project location is at the intersection of MacArthur Blvd. and Jamboree Road, close by the 73 Freeway O There is a sales tax sharing agreement with the City for the project, which is currently under review. Motion: Richard Luehrs, for a resolution of support for the proposed Lexus automobile dealership project Seconded: Gary DiSano Vote: Approved unanimously 2. 2004 Boat Parade Video (pp'd. from February 16, 2005 meeting) Marta Hayden and Richard Luehrs presented the video to demonstrate the national, state and local television media coverage received from the 2004 Boat Parade. EQAC Representative's Report Chairperson Cris Trapp discussed the following project comments: O Bridgeport (aka. South Coast Shipyard) Notice of Preparation 3. Appointment of Lloyd Ikerd to the EDC (supplemental agenda item) Motion: Richard Luehrs to accept the recommendation of the Executive Committee to appoint Mr. Ikerd to the EDC, and submit his name in nomination to the City Council for approval. Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital 10 -year Expansion Plan – Debra Legan PUBLIC COMMENTS Ms. Wood reminded the members of the upcoming City Sign Code Update workshops, to be held on March 24th in both morning and afternoon sessions. Mr. DiSano announced that it had been confirmed that the City had been chosen to have a City float in the 2006 Rose Parade in Pasadena. Mr. Schwenk announced the dates for this year's Newport Beach Film Festival, which will run from April 21 st through April 30th; and announced the likely Opening Night film, "Crash." Mr. Beek announced that there would be an upcoming major yacht race—the Cape San Lucas Race— leaving from Newport Beach on the following Saturday.
