Minutes of March 16, 2005 (minutes attached 2. Project Status Report (report attached) Motion: To Approve the Consent Calendar Vote: Approved unanimously DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. `Measure M' Extension Options Mayor Bromberg introduced Monte Ward of the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA), who discussed Measure M and its upcoming renewal (see attached handout). 2. City Centennial Update Mayor Bromberg discussed the Centennial process and introduced Mayor Pro -Tem Webb and Director of Recreation and Senior Services, Marie Knight, who presented the Centennial update (see attached handout.) Mayor Pro -Tem Webb commented on growing City-wide awareness and likened the Centennial to a history lesson about the City, representing its tremendous progress. He said that events are beginning a year in advance to generate enthusiasm, and he added that numerous subcommittees have been established to move things forward. Marie Knight introduced the celebration process and its related events. Announcing that nearly 200 volunteers are already in place, Ms. Knight conveyed that the entire process is largely based on volunteerism, so the City is off to a great start. She mentioned that there will be many opportunities for the business community to get involved, as well. Ms. Knight introduced Dan Trimble, Project Manager in the Economic Development Department and Rose Parade Float Chairman. Mr. Trimble reported that 30-40 volunteers had signed on. He stated that a premiere design/building firm had been secured and that the firm offers support through volunteer outreach efforts. He emphasized the exciting opportunity for world-wide advertising and marketing for the City. 3. ITEMS FOR A FUTURE AGENDA None PUBLIC COMMENTS Gregg Schwenk announced that tomorrow night (April 21) begins the 6th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival. He thanked the City, Conference and Visitors' Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce for their efforts, and noted the following facts: O 1500 films screened (entries); 300 films in festival this year; 35 countries represented Mayor Bromberg, Marta Hayden, and Seymour Beek introduced the 48th Annual Newport -To - Ensenada Boat Race.
