Motion: Gary DiSano motioned Items on consent calendar approved
Seconded by Craig Batley
Vote: Unanimous, by acclamation
UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Gary Sherwin announced the upcoming Newport Beach Film Festival to start on the 19th
• Discussed the opening night film
• Discussed the John Wayne film and noted the John Wayne statue project
DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Nomination of Charles Unsworth as At -Large representative to the EDC
Motion: Council Member Michael Henn moved to nominate Charles Unsworth as At -
Large representative to the EDC.
Motion seconded by Planning Commission Robert Hawkins
Vote: Unanimous, by acclamation
2. Business License Fee Applicability & Administration — Glen Everroad, CNB Revenue
Business License presentation given by Glen Everroad:
• One time license discussed
• May be losing TOT and convention business because of business license taxes
• Discussion about how many other cities also charge a fee
• Discussion of aggressiveness of revenue division
Motion: Craig Batley moved that EDC:
Recommend at the CVB and City jointly research the potential loss of revenue to the
City via TOT, sales tax and other potential income due to the business license fee required
of vendors at trade shows in Newport Beach.
Motion seconded by Seymour Beek
Vote: Unanimous, by acclamation
