UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS . Richard Luehrs -- the Christmas Boat Parade will begin on December 12. . Gary Sherwin — the Pelican Hill golf course will re -open on November 2; the hotel will open in a year, and marketing for that property is starting. American Express is a sponsor for Restaurant Week in January. The Conference and Visitors Bureau is working on media coverage of the Christmas Boat Parade. . Sheri Drewry — Restaurant Week will begin on January 21, 2008. . Seymour Beek — The Fire and Lifeguard Appreciation Party is Thursday, October 18. . Scott Palmer — the Corona del Mar median landscaping is complete. DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. Minutes of September 19, 2007 Motion: Mike McNamara to approve Second: Seymour Beek Vote: Unanimous 2. Commercial Real Estate Information Database Service — Presentation by Joe Nugent, Costar Group Sharon Wood announced that, as part of implementing the Strategic Plan for Fiscal and Economic Sustainability, the City has contracted with CoStar Group to provide real estate information that can help us match potential businesses with available commercial spaces. Staff was impressed with CoStar because they track information on small commercial tenant spaces, which is Newport Beach's focus in our older commercial areas. Mr. Nugent demonstrated the capabilities of the CoStar system, and responded to questions from Committee members. 3. Protocol for Requests of Other Departments Sharon Wood reviewed the proposed protocol and the need for it: to ensure compliance with the City Charter and to prevent staff from being drawn away from projects approved by the City Council without the full Council's knowledge or direction. EQAC Representative's Report Ken Drellishak reported on the Committee's review of Draft EIRs for Hoag Health Center and UCI's Long Range Development Plan on October 15. ITEMS FOR A FUTURE AGENDA None PUBLIC COMMENTS Richard Luehrs reported that the Coalition for General Plan Accountability held a teleconference meeting on traffic issues, in which 1,000 people participated. He announced that another teleconference with himself, Mayor Rosansky and others speaking about airport issues will be held at 7:00 PM on November 12.
