President "J.K.Parkinson called the meeting to order and roll call ;rc:.ed there ::ere present trustees:- ".K.Pdrkinson;".R.Jumper;Ii.A. Robinson;C.H.hay and G.P.3ilson.Absent: -None. J'inutes of the meetinEs of November 2nd,and llth,1914 were read and a f.proved. Reports of the heads of t!-te various departments for the month of November were read and on motion of trustee H:A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H. "Jay and carried,were accepted and filed. The Street Committee presented a map in connection with the proposed extension of sewer on Newport Ave. The :' iater Committee thro trustee S.R.Jumper,repotted the taking down of the Yank at the water plant and the repairing of the pumpers hous at that point.Cost of same being V136.00. Various communications read and referred to proper order of business Unfinished Business: -The East Tiewport Town Company presented a map of the sewer line in East Newport to accompany the deed to same: offered by them to the City.Matter held over. New Business: -On motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson,and duly carried,it was resolved that: `.•7hereas a petition has been circulated and is about to be presented tothe Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange,asking that a judicial township be created in said county,which township is to embrace the city of "ewport Beach,and '.hereas it appears that the public convenience requires the creation of said township and the election of a justice and a constable and the holding of a justice'scourt therein; Now therefore,the Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach do hereby request the Board of Supervisors of the County of Oranoe,to ".rant :aidpetiticn and to create said township for the purposes provided for in said petition. The roll was called showing the following results.Ayes trustees:"J.K. Parkinson ;S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinso (7.H." ?lay and G.P.71ilson.Noes;T :one, Absent None. President Parkinson declared the resolutior adopted. Electricians bond -iith S.L.Collin- as principal and E.H.Brarrewall and C.X.GreenY :ovr as sureties,in the sum of X500,00, :+as presented and on notion of trustee G.P.'dilson,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried was accepted and ordered filed. Electricians Bond with "-J.L.PTorton as principal and John McMillan and Albert Hermes as sureties,in the sum of w50C.00 was presented and on i„ction of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.:7ay and carried was accepted and ordered filed. Communication from Frank C.Jordan,Secty of State,callirp attention certain publications and to price of ballot paper which the State furnishes,was filed. The ?Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce gave notice of its intention to crake an exhibit at the annual National Orange Shorn to be held at San Bernardirno,enpenditure to be about J,250.00 and asked the city to appropriate that amount from its publicity fund for the said exhibit :rhen the time arrives to take action in the matter. Communication filed on motion of trustee C.H. "lay seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson :,nd carried. Request of •.1atcr Supt McMillan that a committee Eo over the ground :+nd de.sigmate location for fire plugs was referred to the Fire and "dater Committee with power to act. C I I CNZA u 35 The offer of C.L.Lancaster to deed to the city the blocks platted on the ocean-front outside-of the street lying between it and the ocean in front of the Seashcre Colony Tract;ivas considered and accepted on motion of trustee C.H.71ay,secaaded by trustee S.R. Jumper and carried, that on receipt of deed conveying to the city the lots in question,�2.96 be paid Mr Lancaster for same on dema,,I being filed in usual form. On motion of trustee H.A•Robins•on,seconded by trustee C.H. " :ay ,)nd carried,City Attorney Bishop was instructed to draft an ordinance regulating plumbing in the city. In the matter of opening street from Alvarado to Main alonL south side of the Pao Elee right of way at Balboa it, was moved by trust(;,-, S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried,that th_ City Engineer be instructed to furnish necessary dzta to the City Attorney,who is to draft resolution looking to the openinv of ctr.c expense to be borne by an -assessment district which is to include the property lying between Alvarado and Main Streets and between the Pacific ocean and the'south line of the Pao Elec right cf e,- . Demands ##161 to §584 inclusive,approved by the finance comrrd tte , were presented and on motion od trustee H.A.Rcbinson,:ccond d by trustee G.P. "lil•son and carried were alloroed and war•rar.ts or•dert:d drawn. Moved by trustee H.,A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.:7ay,and carried that City Attorney Clyde Bishop be instructed to draft r.n ordinance providing a license fee for operating vehicles,ovor• Ufe -city streets that act as public carriers. Said fee to be X25.00 and such vehicles to be limited,,ta as to load,to their passcn;cr capacity. - - Mr Pears of the Collins Land Co` appeared and protested against a water bill,that was large because of a leak d)n their pipe line; and and asked a reduction in same. No action taken.- Moved by trustee H.A.Rebinson,seconded by trustee C.H.'Yay,and carried that adjournment be taken to 230 P.M. Monday December Y4th, 1914. Adjourned.
