Implementation of the City of Newport Beach Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance for
the efficient use of water in the landscape.

Thank you for the opportunity to perform a landscape irrigation audit. All of the zones / hydrozones on the
irrigation systems were evaluated with a visual inspection. As per your request, we evaluated the irrigation
systems in accordance with the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO).
SUMMARY
The project is located at Tract 17555 Newport Beach. This audit was performed on the new overall site irrigation
systems within the limits of construction. The irrigation systems are new systems utilizing potable water. At the
time of the audit the temperature was around 51 degrees Fahrenheit at approximately 7am with negligible wind
speed.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
IRRIGATION PLANS:
After evaluating each hydrozone and all of the system layout; components and functionality meet all the
requirements of the Irrigation Plans. Each hydrozone is noted on the report with notes and zone details.
MWELO:
The California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance has been adopted by the City of Newport Beach as the
standard for new construction and irrigation installations based on AB -1881.
UNIFORMITY:
Since the dripline is subterranean and the planting material is already installed and would be damaged if the
dripline was unearthed, a drip catch can test was not performed. In lieu of the catch can test, the standard 90%
efficiency for pressure compensating drip & low -flow irrigation per the Irrigation Association's Landscape
Irrigation Auditor, 3rd edition book was used for the report.

The irrigation systems were evaluated on Wednesday, December 11, 2014. Based on the Irrigation Association
Audit rules/guidelines and MWELO the irrigation systems is within compliance.
All recommended adjustments were corrected on-site to reach maximum efficiency.
The type of planting material meets the required crop coefficient from the landscape plans and state
requirements.
The pressure at the dripline is within the manufacturer recommended range of 20 to 40 PSI.
It Is recommended that the client implement a responsible watering schedule that follows local restrictions and
use of an annualater budget. Regular landscape maintenance on a weekly or bi-weekly basis is also
