It is my understanding that a correction notice was written concerning the 1" minimum
clearance required between plumbing in the dam wall and the dam wall steel as shown in
detail No. 7 on our Standard Pool Structural Plan.
Please be advised that 1" clear should certainly be attempted. However, we are aware
that this cannot be attained in all cases due to the shape of the dam wall and the plumbing
configuration. Some variation from this requirement is acceptable as long as at least 90%
of the dam wall plumbing maintains 1" minimum clearance to the dam wall reinforcement.
This 1" clearance is intended to be from both horizontal and vertical reinforcement (the 4"
dimension shown in the double curtain dam wall detail is a steel dimension and does not
relate to plumbing clearances).
This variation is acceptable due to the high strength of the dam wall from it's 9" and larger
thickness and the double curtain of steel. I hope that this clarifies our intention concerning
minimum clearances between plumbing and the dam wall reinforcement.
