PARRS, BEACHES & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
March 4, 1965
TO: JOE DEVLIN, ACTING CITY MANAGER
FROM: C. C. Stewart, Director
SUBJECT: AGREEMENT - BOYS SUMMER BASEBALL PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION: Enter into an agreement with the City of Costa Mesa
and the Harbor Area Boys Club for the operation of
the Boys Summer Baseball Program.
DISCUSSION: In an effort to make the Boys Summer Baseball
Program more efficient and also to eliminate
operational problems which have plagued the
program in the past, the Newport Beach Parks,
Beaches & Recreation Department suggested that
the three agencies involved enter into an agreement
which would spell out responsibilities of each
participating agency.
The proposed agreement was finalized after several
staff meetings with the department directors of
Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and the Boys Club. We
feel that the adoption of this agreement will
eliminate the areas of friction and dissension
that have arisen during League play over the past
several seasons. It has been reviewed and approved
in principle by our City Attorney.
Would you please forward this proposed agreement
to the City Council for consideration and adoption?
