RECOMMENDATION: DISCUSSION: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH BOYLE ENGINEERING FOR SUBJECT SERVICES. a 5 ON APRIL 26, 1966, THE CITY EXECUTED AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF JAMBOREE ROAD FROM FORD ROAD TO PALISADES ROAD THROUGH THE PROVISIONS OF THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING.PROGRAM. THE AGREEMENT ASSIGNS DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITY TO THE CITY. THE APPROVED BUDGET FOR F.Y. 1966 -67 PROVIDES FOR PREPARATION OF PLANS BY A PRIVATE ENGINEER. A PROPOSAL HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM BOYLE ENGINEERING TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE LUMP SUM FEE OF $24,000. THIS IS IN CLOSE AGREEMENT WITH THE RECOMMENDED FEE FOR PROJECTS OF SIMILAR COMPLEXITY AS RECOM- MENDED BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS. BOYLE ENGINEERING HAS SATISFACTORILY PERFORMED SIMILAR WORK FOR THE CITY; THE FIRM IS WELL QUALIFIED IN THIS TYPE OF WORK AND IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN SANTA ANA. THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE THE SECOND TWO LANES OF THE REALIGNED JAMBOREE ROAD, FROM PALISADES ROAD TO NORTH EASTBLUFF DRIVE, INCLUDING A SECOND BRIDGE OVER SAN DIEGO CREEK. Montgomery, Consulting Engineers, /; Inc., in connection with the public works project described y' " as the construction of a 16 -inch water transmission main 71, along Tustin Avenue between Mira Loma Place and the 12 -inch A.C. main at the intersection of Palisades Road and Campus Drive. 3. One copy of each of the contracts referred to herein. The subject contracts have been transmitted to the Public Works Director to obtain their execution in duplicate on behalf of the respective engineers.
