Accept the work. 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion. April 27, 1970 3. Authorize the City Clerk to release the bonds 35 days after Notice of Completion has been filed. DISCUSSION: 46-5 The contract for`the widening of Pacific Coast Highway at Jamboree Road has been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. The bid price was: $18,500.50 Amount of unit price items constructed: $19,105.46 Amount of change orders: None Total Contract cost: $19,105.46 Amount budgeted in Account #19- 3386 -052: and #25- 3386 -052 $23,500.00 One half of the cost will be paid by the State Division of Highways. The City's share will be paid from Gas Tax funds. The contractor is Patco Construction of Corona del Mar, California. The contract date of completion was June 16, 1970. Approve the plans and specifications.. 2. Authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids to be opened at 10:00 A.M., February 17, 1970. DISCUSSION: .___J E-5 This project will provide for the widening of Pacific Coast Highway to allow for the installation of two left turning lanes from the Coast Highway onto Jamboree Road northbound: This improvement will result in a shorter stopping time for the through traffic on the Coast Highway and still permit a large left turning movement onto Jamboree Road. The estimated contract cost is $19,500.00. The project will be funded one -half by City Gas Tax.Funds and one -half by the State Division of Highways. The plans were prepared by Williamson and Schmid Engineers of Santa Ana. SECTION III It is mutually understood and agreed; (1) That design engineering costs, including all overhead charges attributed to design engineering, are to -4- be 22 percent of construction costs of the work referred to herein. DISCUSSION: This project was rebudgeted from FY1968 -69 to FY1969 -70 in an effort to secure State participation in the project. The State has studied the project and has classified it as a safety improvement to Pacific Coast Highway. The subject cooperative financing agreement provides for the State to pay for one -half of the design engineering costs, construction costs,and construction engineering costs; up to a maximum of $13.000. The preliminary cost estimate for the construction of the project is $20,000. The City's portion of construction costs will come from Gas Tax Funds.
