'5 C; 3 :I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A SUPPLEMIIVTAL COOPERATIVE FINANCING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AND THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF i TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CHANNELIZATION OF COAST HIGHWAY FROM THE ARCHES THROUGH TUSTIN AVENUE WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Newport Beach a certain contract between the City of Newport Beach and the State Department of Transportation for the channelization of Coast Highway from The Arches through Tustin Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the terms and conditions of said cooperative financing agreement and found them to be fair and equitable; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said cooperative financing agreement for the services above described is approved, f and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the same on behalf of the City of Newport Beach. The traffic signals are to be upgraded and modified. These measures should reduce congestion, accident hazard and overall delay to late afternoon westbound traffic. The state will design and construct the project. The subject agreement provides for the following financing: City Funds $12,000 State Funds 47,000 Total 59,0 In addition to the funds mentioned above, the city would provide under a separate contract, median island paving and landscaping for the median islands in the vicinity of Riverside and Tustin Avenues.
