A G R E E M E N T

THIS AGREEMENT, entered into this `w day of 1974,
by and between the ORANGE COU14TY TRANSIT DISTRICT, hereinafter referred
to as "DISTRICT," and the CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, hereinafter referred to
as "CITY."
W I T N E S S E T H:
WHEREAS, DISTRICT and CITY entered into an Agreement dated
October 12, 1972, whereby DISTRICT was authorized to establish and
operate public transporation service within CITY, and DISTRICT agreed
to consult with CITY regarding DISTRICT's schedules, routes, and fares,
and CITY agreed to establish and mark DISTRICT bus stop locations and
install and maintain DISTRICT bus stop signs; and
WHEREAS, CITY intends to establish a municipal bus system serving
CITY, on a trial basis beginning June 17, 1974, and ending September 6,
1974; and
WHEREAS, DISTRICT and CITY desire to fully cooperate in their
respective bus operations; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that coordination between DISTRICT and
CITY be effected in order to respond to the urgent need for improved
public transportation services;
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto agree as follows: To the
implementation of reciprocal transfers, commencing June 17, 1974.
DISTRICT and CITY shall makes transfers available to their bus passengers.
Valid transfers issued by one party hereto shall be accepted by the other
party hereto. No charge shall be made for issuing these inter - system
transfers.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH AND THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT
FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A RECIPROCAL TRANSFER
SYSTEM IN CONNECTION WITH BUS SERVICES DURING
THE PERIOD JUNE 17- SEPTEMBER 6, 1974
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach a certain agreement between the
City of Newport Beach and the Orange County Transit District
for the establishment of a reciprocal transfer system in
connection with bus services during the period June 17-
September 6, 1974; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the terms
and conditions of said agreement and found them to be fair and
equitable, and in the best interests of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that said agreement for the
services above described is approved, and the Mayor and City
Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the same
on behalf of the City of Newport Beach.
ADOPTED this 13th day of May, 1974.
