ADOPTED this 12th day of August, 1974. Mayor ATTEST: City Cler mh 8/9/74 City Council Meeting August 12, 1974 Agenda Item No. H -2(a) 1974 By the CITY COUNCIL CITY Of 46w*"! %4CH CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH August 7, 1974 TO: City Council FROM: SUBJECT: Recommendation Department of Community Development Adopt resolution authorizing the execution of an off -site parking agreement between the City of Newport Beach and the John Wayne Tennis Club. Background At its meeting of October 4, 1973, the Planning Commission approved Use Permit No. 1697 of the John Wayne Tennis Club for the construction of a private tennis club adjoining the Newporter Inn, subject to fifteen conditions of approval. The facilities, which are currently under con- struction, include a two story, 8000 sq.ft. club house and fifteen lighted tennis courts. It is anticipated that the club will have a total of 725 memberships and will be the site of two major tournaments and ten club tournaments annually. Although the tennis club is not a part of the Newporter Inn, the activities of the club will be coordinated so as not to conflict with hotel functions. For example, the John Wayne Tennis Club and the Newporter Inn have agreed that tennis tournaments shall be sched- uled only on mutually agreeable dates, at which time activities at the Inn will be limited so as to provide parking for the club tourna- ments. Parking areas provided by the Inn will accommodate 680 parking spaces in addition to the 78 on -site spaces provided by the club. A condition of approval of the use permit requires that this agreement be formalized in the form of an Off -Site Parking Agreement between the City and the club. The agreement has been prepared by the City Attorney and is ready for execution. Respectfully submitted, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT R. V.
