All of the zones/hydrozones on the irrigation system were evaluated with a visual inspection. As per your request, we evaluated the irrigation system in accordance with the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), the City of Newport Beach, and the as-built plans. SUMMARY The project is located at 15 Troon Drive. This audit was performed on the new landscape area around the residence on Wednesday March 30, 2022. The total landscape area for the project is approximately 13,356 square feet. The irrigation system is a new system utilizing potable water. At the time of the audit the temperature was around 65 degrees Fahrenheit at approximately 12pm with a wind speed of 1 to 2 MPH. AS-BUILT PLANS: After evaluating each hydrozone and all of the system layout; components and functionality meet all the requirements of the As-Built Plans. Each hydrozone is noted on the report with notes and zone details. MWELO: The California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance has been adopted by the city of Newport Beach as the standard for new construction and irrigation installations based on AB1881. UNIFORMITY: Since the dripline is subterranean and the planting material is already installed and would be damaged if the dripline was unearthed, a drip catch can test was not performed. In lieu of the catch can test, the standard 90% efficiency for pressure compensating drip & low-flow irrigation per the Irrigation Association’s Landscape Irrigation Auditor, 3rd edition book was used for the report. Zone Audit Conclusion: PASS The irrigation system and landscape planting was evaluated on Wednesday March 30th, 2022. Based on the irrigation association audit rules/guidelines, MWELO, and as-builts, the irrigation system is in full compliance. The root depths ranged from 5” to 18” and the distribution uniformity used was 90%. All recommended adjustments were corrected on-site to reach maximum efficiency. The type of planting material meets the required crop coefficient from the As-builts and state requirements. The pressure at the dripline is within the manufacturer recommended range of 6 to 58 PSI. It is recommended that the client implement a responsible watering schedule that follows local restrictions and use of an annual water budget by using the Hunter weather based service. Regular landscape maintenance on a weekly or bi-weekly basis is also recommended. A quarterly irrigation inspection by an irrigation technician will keep the irrigation system at peak performance.
