These con- trol panels provide reliable fire signaling protection for small to medium-sized commercial, industrial, and institutional build- ings. Both panels include built-in communicators for Central Station Service and remote upload/download. Each of these FACPs is compatible with System Sensor's microprocessor -based is series detectors. These conventional smoke detectors can transmit a maintenance trouble signal to the FACP indicating the need for cleaning and a supervisory "freeze" signal when the ambient temperature falls below the detector rating. Additionally, both the MS-5UD-3 and MS- 10UD-7 are compatible with conventional input devices such as two- and four -wire smoke detectors, pull stations, waterflow, devices, tamper switches, and other normally -open contact devices. Refer to the Fire -Lite Device Compatibility Document for a complete listing of compatible devices. Outputs include four NACs (Notification Appliance Circuits), three programmable Form -C relays (factory programmed for Alarm, Trouble, and Supervisory) and 24 VDC special applica- tion resettable and nonresettable power outputs. The FACPs supervise all wiring, AC voltage, battery level and telephone line integrity. Activation of a compatible smoke detector or any normally - open fire alarm initiating device will activate audible and visual signaling devices, illuminate an indicating LED, sound the piezo sounder at the FACP, activate the communicator and FACP alarm relay, and operate an optional module used to notify a remote station or initiate an auxiliary control function. New options include a UL listed printer, PRN -6F and FireLite's IPDACT Internet Monitoring module. The FireWatch Series internet monitoring modules IPDACT-2 and IPDACT-2UD per- mit monitoring of alarm signals over the Internet saving the monthly cost of two telephone lines. Although not required, the secondary telephone line may be retained providing backup communication over the public switched telephone line. NOTE., The MS-5UD-3E and MS- f0UD-7E offers the same fea- tures as the MS-5UD-3 and MS-10UD-7 but allow connection to 240 VAC. Unless otherwise specified, the information in this data sheet applies to both the 120 VAC and the 240 VAC versions of these panels. NOTE., For ULC -listed models, see DF -60440. This is a four -step - process, consisting of the following: 1. Calculating the total amount ofAC branch circuit current required to operate the system 2. Calculating the power supply load current for non -fire and fire alarm conditions and calculating the secondary (battery) load 3. Calculating the size of batteries required to support the system if an AC power loss occurs 4. Selecting the proper batteries for your system 7.2 Calculating the AC Branch Circuit The control panel requires connection to a separate, dedicated AC branch circuit, which must be labeled FIRE ALARM. This branch circuit must connect to the line side of the main power feed of the protected premises. No other non -fire alarm equipment may be pow- ered from the fire alarm branch c&cuit. The branch circuit wire must run continuously, without any disconnect devices, from the power source to the control panel. Overcrurent protection for this circuit must comply with Article 760 of the National Electrical Codes as well as local codes. Use 14 AWG (2.00 mm2) wire with 600 volt insulation for this branch circuit. Use Table 7. 1, to determine the total amount of current, in AC amperes (A), that must be supplied to the system. Device Type Number of Current Draw Total Current per Devices (AC amps) Device MS-5UD-3/MS-10UD-3 1 X 1.00 = or MS-5UD-7(C)/MS-10UD-7(C) 3.90 or MS-5UD-3E/MS-10UD-3E 0.54 or MS-5UD-7E/MS-10UD-7E 2.20 [ ] X [ ] X Sum Column for AC Branch Current Required = Table 7.1 AC Branch Circuit Requirements 7.3 'Calculatiri 7.3.1 Overview The control panel most be able to power all internal and external devices continuously during the non -fire alarm condition. To calculate the non -fire alarm load on the system power supply when primary power is applied, use Calculation Column 1 in Table 7.3 on page 111. The control panel must support a larger load current during a fire alarm condition. To calculate the fire alarm load on the power supply, use Calculation Column 2 in Table 7.3 on page 111. The secondary power source (batteries) must be able to power the system during a primary power loss. To calculate the non -fire alarm load on the secondary power source, use Calculation Column 3 in Table 7.3 on page 111. When calculating current draw and the battery size, note the following: • `Primary' refers to the main power source for the control panel • `Secondary'refers to the control panel's backup batteries • All currents are given in amperes (A). Section 7.2 shows how to convert milliamperes and microamperes to full amperes. To convert... Multiply Example Milliamperes (mA) to - mA x 0.001 3 mA x.0.001 = 0.003A amperes (A) Microamperes (PA) to PA 0.000001 300 PA 0.000001=0,0003A amperes (A) Table 7.2 Converting to Full Amperes 7.3.2 How to Use Table 7.3 on page 111 to Calculate System Current Draw Use Table 7:3 on page 1I1 to calculate current draws as follows: 1. Enter the quantity of devices in all three columns 2. Enter the current draw where required. Refer to the Device Compatibility Document for compatible devices and their current draw 3. Calculate the current draws for each in all columns - 4. Sum the total current for each column 5. - Copy the totals from Column 2 and Column 3 to Table 7.4 on page 112 Following are the types of current that can be entered into Table 7.3 on page Ill: - - - 110 MS-5UD&MS-1017D Series Manual -P/N 52626:C7 6/12/2018 Calculating the System Current Draw Power Supply Calculations ✓ Calculation Column 1 - The primary supply current load that the control panel must support during a non -fire alarm condition, with AC power applied. ✓ Calculation Column 2 - The primary supply current load that the control panel must support during a fire alarm condition, with AC power applied. ✓ Calculation Column 3 - The standby current drawn from the batteries in a non -fire alarm condition during a loss of AC power. Table 7.3 contains three columns for calculating current draws. For maximum output current availability per circuit and per panel, refer to Section 1.2, "Specifications", on page 13. It provides system status indicators for AC Power, Alarm, Trouble, Supervisory, and Alarm Silenced condi- tions. The ANN -80 and the FACP communicate over a two -wire serial interface employing the ANN -BUS communication format. Connected devices are powered, via two additional wires, by either the host FACP or a remote UL -listed, filtered power supply. ANN -80 is red; for white, order ANN -80-W. The ANN -80 displays English-language text of system point information including device type, zone, independent point alarm, trouble or supervisory status, as well as any custom alpha labels programmed Into the control panel. It includes con- trol switches for remotecontrol of critical system functions. (A keyswitch prevents unauthorized operation of thecontrol switches.) Up to eight ANN -80s may be connected to the ANN -BUS of each FACP. No programming is required, which saves time dur- ing system commissioning. See the FACP manual for more information. df -52417:c • 05/22/09 — Page 1 of 2 ANN -BUS DEVICE ADDRESSING Each ANN -BUS device requires a unique address (ID Number) In order to communicate with the FACP. A maximum of 8 devices can be connected to the FACP ANN -BUS communication circuit. See the FACP manual for more Information. WIRE COMMUNICATIONS CIRCUIT The ANN -80 connects to the FACP ANN -BUS communications circuit. To determine the type of wire and the maximum wiring distance that can be used with FACP ANN -BUS accessory mod- ules, it is necessary to calculate the total worst case current draw for all modules on a single 4 -conductor bus. The total worst case current draw is calculated by adding the individual worst case currents for each module. NOTE: For total worst case current draw on a single ANN -BUS refer to appropriate FACP manual. After calculating the total worst case current draw, the following table specifies the maximum distance the modules can be located from the FACP on a single wire run. The table ensures 6.0 volts of line drop maximum. In general, the wire length is lim- ited by resistance, but for heavier wire gauges, capacitance is the limiting factor. These cases are marked in the chart with an asterisk ('). Maxi- mum length can never be more than 6,000 feet (1,800 m), regardless of gauge used. See table below. WIRE REQUIREMENTS: POWER CIRCUIT • 14 to 18 AWG (0.75 - 2.08 mm2) wire for 24 VDC power cir- cuit is acceptable. Power wire distance limitation is set by 1.2 volt maximum line drop form source to end of circuit. • All connections are power -limited and supervised. • A maximum of eight ANN -80 modules may be connected to this circuit. I- Meets UL 864 requirements for sole, primary or backup path communications. I- Minimizes false alarms by providing dual paths for self -tests. The Telguard TG-7FS LTE -V is the ideal cellular alarm communications solution for commercial fire systems. The TG-7FS. LTE -V transmits alarm signals from the fire panel over the digital cellular network to the designated monitoring station. Compliant with the 2013 Edition of NFPA 72, the TG-7FS LTE -V can serve as the sole communications path for the fire alarm system. It replaces all of the landlines currently dedicated to the master control unit. On average, cellular monitoring costs the end user significantly less than a dedicated landline. For each landline replaced with a TG-7FS LTE -V, the monthly communications bill decreases. By being able to signal failures to the central station within sixty' ,minutes of an outage, the TG-7FS LTE -V can be installed as the sole; path for commercial fire installations;) For existing installations, all landlines can be swapped for a single TG-7FS LTE -V because of the new sixty minute supervision mode. The TG-7FS LTE -V can also be installed as a backup path and upgraded to sole path at a later date. To complete the installation, 13 heads plug into the base with a simple Stop-Drop'N Lock -action. Intelligence. 13 detectors offer a number of intelligent features to simplify testing and maintenance. Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms are standard with the i3 line to minimize nuisance alarms. 2 -wire i3 detectors can generate a remote LED - indicated maintenance signal when connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel equipped with the 13 protocol. The SENS-RDR, a wireless device, displays the sensitivityof 13 detectors in terms of percent -per -foot obscuration. Instant inspection. The i3 series provides wide-angle red and green LED indicators for instant inspection of the detector's condition: normal standby, out -of -sensitivity, alarm, or freeze trouble. When connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel with the i3 protocol, the EZ Walk loop test feature is available on 2 -wire i3 detectors. This feature verifies the initiating loop wiring by providing LED status indication at each detector. Position the valve to fully open ("OPEN" should appear in the window of the housing). Partially close the valve while observing the direction that the target assembly moves. Reopen the valve. If the valve housing is predrilled with a 12" NPT for installation of a monitoring switch, remove the 12" plug and fully open the valve. Make sure that `OPEN" appears in the window of the housing. GO TO STEP NO. 6. 2. Remove the head and target assembly (consultation with valve manufacturer is recommended). 3. If the target assembly moved up as the valve was closed, measure the distance from the bottom of the head to the lower part of the target assembly that will contact the trip rod ofthe PCVS (see Fig. 3). This is usually a plate or bar on the target assembly, on a side adjacent to the "OPEN/SIIUT"plates. Subtract 1/8" from the measurement. Ifthe target moved down as the valve was closed, measure the distance from the bottom ofthe head to the upper portion ofthe target assembly that will contact the trip rod ofthe PCVS (see Fig. 4). Add 1/8" (3,2mm) to this measurement. 4. Mark the housing at the proper location. Using a23/32"(18,2mm)drill bit, drill and then tap a 12" NPT in the housing on the side that coincides with the portion of the target assembly that will engage the trip rod of the PCVS 5. Replace the head and target assembly. 6. Loosen the socket head screw that holds the nipple in the PCVS and remove the nipple. 7. Screw the lockout that is provided onto the nipple. 8. Screw the nipple into the 12" NPT hole in the valve housing - hand tighten. Tighten the lockout against the valve housing to secure the nipple firmly in place - 9 Insert a scale or probe thin the nipple to measure the distance from the open end of the nipple to the target assembly. Subtract 12" (12,5mm) from this measurement. NOTE: In some cases, it may be necessary to attach an angle bracket to the target assembly to engage the PCVS trip rod. 10. Using the special toolprovided, loosen the two cover screws and remove the cover from the PCVS. 11. Loosen the locking screw that holds the trip rod in place and adjust the rod length, from the end of the collar to the end of the rod, using the dimension determined in Step 9. Tighten the locking screw to hold the rod in place. NOTE: If trip rod length is excessive, loosen the locking screw and remove the trip rod from the trip lever. Using pliers, break off the one (1) inch long notched section (see Fig. 7). Reinstall trip rod and repeal Step I1 procedure. 12. Partially close the valve (3 to 4 revolutions ofthe bandle/bandwheel). 13.
