HomeMy WebLinkAbout1526 - RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF CA__ NEW SIGN REGULATIONS FOR BALBOA PENINSULARESOLUTION NO. 1526 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF SIGN REGULATIONS FOR COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES ON THE BALBOA PENINSULA AND AMENDMENTS TO TITLE 20 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE TO IMPLEMENT THE NEW SIGN REGULATIONS [AMENDMENT 907] WHEREAS, planning studies conducted for the Balboa Peninsula place a high priority on the adoption of new sign regulations for the Balboa Peninsula; and WHERAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach appointed a steering committee to oversee the drafting of the new sign regulations; and WHEREAS, based on community input, the steering committee has recommended a set of sign regulations and design guidelines that recognize the eclectic character of the Balboa Peninsula and emphasize creativity and flexibility; and WHEREAS, on September 21, 2000, the Planning Commission of the City of Newport Beach held a public hearing regarding this amendment; and WHEREAS, the public was duly noticed of the public hearing; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, it has been determined that the proposed amendment is categorically exempt under Class 5, minor alterations in land use limitations. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of the City of Newport Beach does hereby recommend that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach adopt the Balboa Sign Overlay, as provided in Exhibit "A" and an amendment to Title 20 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code to revise Section 20.43.050 (Property Development Regulation N), Section 20.45.035 (Property Development Regulation T), and Section 20.67.010 (B), as provided in Exhibit «B ADOPTED this 21st day of September 2000, by the following vote, to wit: Steven Kiser, ecretary AYES McDaniel, Kiser, Ag?jianian, Selich, Gifford.
