This letter reflects cost variation as stated in a letter to Ken Perry dated
January 17, 1984 (c.c. to Rich Mc Donald). In addition it has become apparent
that additional right of way will be required to complete the undergrounding.

property on the west side of Superior Ave. and conduit within your
building. This conduit will be placed and maintained by others for
Pacific Bell's use.
Enclosed is a letter of billing authorization. Please sign and return the
letter to our office. Please mail your check for $20,483.00, to our Van Nuys
office in order that we may proceed with the work. Envelopes are enclosed for
your convenience.
The above quoted dollar figure for Pacific Bell charges is good for a ninety
day period from the date of this letter. If we have not received your check by
t he end of such ninety day period, the cost for relocation will be re-
evaluated.

In addition, such dollar figure is conditional upon Pacific Bell being able to
obtain all necessary governmental approvals and permits to accomplish the above
described relocation work. If Pacific Bell is not able to obtain any such
approvals or permits, we reserve the right to refund $38,934.00 without any
further obligation to perform the work as described above.

SUBJECT: UNDERGROUND UTILITIES DISTRICT NO. 9 (ALONG SUPERIOR AVENUE FROM
15TH STREET TO NORTHERLY CITY BOUNDARY) CONTRACT NO. 2472
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute Contract 2472, an
agreement with Pacific Bell to underground telephone facilities in Superior
Avenue adjacent to the City's Corporation Yard, for the lump sum price of
$20,483.
DISCUSSION:
The 1984 -85 budget contains an appropriation of $66,200 from the
General Fund for the City's share of undergrounding utilities in Superior
• Avenue adjacent to the City's Corporation Yard located at 592 Superior
Avenue. The location is shown on the attached sketch.
Under the plan recommended by the City's Underground Utilities
Coordinating Committee and approved by the City Council, Hughes Aircraft
Company and the City will each pay for undergrounding utilities in Superior
Avenue adjacent to its own property under Edison Company's Rule 20 -B and
Pacific Bell's Rule 32 -B. Undergrounding adjacent to the Park Lido residential
development will be paid for with Edison funds allocated to the City under the
Rule in P.U.C. Case 8209.
