YTD Total Revenue is tracking ahead of last year, up 9.2% over last year to date. 2. The Foundation’s liquidity is good, and there has been no need to transfer any funds from the savings to the checking account. 3. There have not been significant gifts to the Hall in the past 30 days. Fiscal 2024 Budget 1. The draft budget for next fiscal year is still in development as there are some significant FY2024 expenses that are not confirmed. GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT 1. Kunga’s last day before her leave is May 27. She is expected to return in mid- September. A UCI intern is being interviewed to provide marketing and donor research for the interim. 2. The Board has elected Amy Fulford to the Library Live Committee and Rachel Hass Reinus to the Witte Lecture Committee. 3. The Board has elected Joy Brenner and Randy Heyler to the Board of Directors. EVENTS and PROGRAMMING 1. The Foundation will have presented 43 events from September 2022 – June 2023. Including the remaining events, nearly 4,000 people will come to the Library to attend Library Foundation events. 2. Remaining events as of May 15 are: a. 2 Financial Workshops (+/- 65 per workshop) Jerold D Kappel, CEO Newport Beach Public Library Foundation 2 a. The Newport Beach Financial Workshops are the most well- attended of any workshop site. b. 1 Medicine in Our Backyard lecture (+/- 70 per lecture) c. Summer Solstice (+/- 150 for the event) 3. Spotlight on Science had over 230 registered and 190 attending. Surveys reflected a strong opinion to continue the Spotlights next season. Three will be budgeted. 4. All speakers for the 2023-2024 Witte Lectures and Library Live season have been identified and all but one contracted. 5. Medicine in Our Backyard topics have been identified for next season as have the books for the Book Discussion Group. 6. Witte Lecture speakers and Library Live author recordings will be made available to Foundation members as of July 1 for a three-month period. MARKETING 1. Bookmark is in production and is scheduled for a mid-June publication. 2. Witte Lectures and Library Live will have season passes available for Foundation members only as of July 1. DEVELOPMENT 1. Invitations to the Summer Solstice Celebration will go to new members (as of July 1, 2022), the Foundation Board, the Library Leadership Library Circle (donors of $1,000 and above), Library Trustees, Library staff leadership, and City Council members. Special recognition will be given to Mike and Polly Smith, founding sponsors of Medicine in Our Backyard, and the UCI Health presenters. 2. As the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Central Library is 2024, the Library Foundation will initiate an estate giving campaign directed at those individuals and families that contributed to the 1992-1994 building campaign and to the endowment campaign that began in 1995. Estate giving donors will be part of a new recognition society called The Elizabeth and John Stahr Legacy Society. a. This campaign will be introduced in the June Bookmark and at the Summer Solstice Celebration.
