This Change Order decreases the amount of dredging immediately adjacent to the ETCO property, located on the
western side of the Rhine Channel between roughly Stations 14+50 and 18+30, as shown on the attached Revision 3 to
Sheets 4 and 5 of the Contract Plans.
The reason for decreasing the amount of dredging at this location is that the management of the ETCO property has not
yet undertaken their planned dock and pile reconstruction efforts. The City of Newport Beach's original expectation was
that piles and docks would be demolished and replaced by the property's management prior to or near to the time of the
Rhine Channel dredging project. This effort has not yet occurred. The existing piles and docks appear to be in a state of
significant disrepair and are not considered suitably stable to withstand the originally planned dredging.
This change decreases the payable quantity for Bid Item No. 2, "Dredging, Transport, and Disposal,' by 1,900 cy,
changing the total quantity from 91,300 to 89,400 cy.
