HomeMy WebLinkAboutC-3948 - Purchase and Installation Command and communications Equipment`s 0 • CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item No. 10 June 26, 2007 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: Fire Department Steve Lewis, Fire Chief, 644 -3101 slewis(cDcity.newaort- beach.ca. us SUBJECT: Contract with 911 Vehicles for Purchase and Installation Command and Communications Equipment RECOMMENDATION: Approve a sole source contract with 911 Vehicles with an amount not to exceed $24,000 for the Command Vehicle. DISCUSSION: Background: On October 10, 2006, Council accepted Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funds for $65,000 to purchase a Multi- discipline Command Vehicle and approved a sole source contract with 911 Vehicles with an amount not to exceed $65,000 for the Command Vehicle. The Fire Department has identified additional equipment that will give better communications and control capabilities for water -bome and wildland incidents. 911 Vehicles has provided a cost proposal for purchase and installation of the equipment for $20,310.35.
