RE: SEAC Grant for Newport Beach Restaurant Week
At its June 28 meeting, the City Council approved awarding special event grants to 13
community events in FY 2011 -12. Each event organizer must enter into an agreement with the
City in order to receive their grant.
The Newport Beach Restaurant Association Business Improvement District (NBRA BID) is to
receive a $34,000 grant for its January 2012 Newport Beach Restaurant Week event. Since the
NBRA BID is actually a part of the City of Newport Beach and not a separate entity (unlike the
other 12 grant recipients), staff does not see a need to enter into an agreement for this event.
If you agree, we will proceed without an agreement and issue a check for $34,000 to the NBRA
BID for use for the 2012 Newport Beach Restaurant Week event.
