ORDINANCE NO. 496
The City of Newport Beach, by
and through its City Council, does
ordain as follows:
Section 1. It is hereby declared
unlawful to serve, prepare or eat
lunches, dinners or picnics on the
public beaches bordering on the
waters of Newport Bay in the
city of Newport Beach, except in
those districts designated by Or-
dinance No. 440 of the city of
Newport Beach as C -1, C -2 and
M -1 districts, and expect on such
beach frontage as the City Council
of the City of Newport .Beach
may by resolut'on declare to be
public picnic grounds.
Section 2. Any person who shall
violate any of the provisions of
t:is ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and up-
on conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine not to ex-
ceed $50.00, or by imprisonment
in the City Ja'1 of the city of
Newport Beach or the County Jail
of the County of Orange, for
not longer than five (5) days, or
by both such fine and imprison-
ment.
Section 3. This ordinance shall
be published once in NEWPORT
BALBOA NEWS TIMES, a news-
paper printed, published and cir-
culated in the city of Newport
Beach, and shall take effect and
be in force thirty (30) days alter
.is passage.
The fo.egoing ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the city of
Newport Beach held on the 5th
day of August, 1940, and was
finally passed and adopted by
said City Council at a regular
meeting thereof, held on, the 2nd
day of September, 1940, by the
following vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: REED,
ALLEN BROWN.
NOES, COUNCILMEN:
CLAIRE, GORDON.
ABSENT , COUNCILMEN:
NONE.
