ORDINANCE N0, 1227
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING
SECTIONS 12 .24.050 AND 12.24.060 OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADDING SECTION 12.24.055
• TO SAID CODE RELATING TO DECREASING PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMITS
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION to Section 12.24.050 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"12.24.050 Decreasin State Speed Limits. It is
hereby determined upon t e asis ot engineering and traf-
fic surveys that the speed permitted by state law outside
of business and residence districts as applicable upon
the streets or parts thereof described in Sections
12.24.055 through 12.04.100 is greater than is reasonable
or safe under the conditions found to exist upon 'such
streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie
speed limit shall be as hereinafter designated on those
streets or parts thereof when signs are erected giving
notice thereof."
SECTION 2. Section 12.24.055 is added to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to read:
. "12.24.055 Prima Facie S eed Limit m® Fift -five
Miles -per Hour. The prima tacie speed limit on t e ol®
owing named streets or parts thereof shall be fifty -five
miles per hour.
Jamboree Road from East Coast Highway to Ford Road."
SECTION 3. Section 12.24.060 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"12.24.060 Prima Facie Speed Limit m® For ®five
Miles -per Hour. The prima acie speed imit t on t ol=
owing named streets or parts thereof shall be forty-five
miles per hour.
Jamboree Road from Ford Road to Palisades Road,
Eastbluff Drive from Bixia Street northerly to
Jamboree Road."
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be published once in the
official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30
days after the date of its adoption.
