ORDINANCE NO. 1230
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING
SECTION 7,040020 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO LEASH REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1< Section 7,040020 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"7004,020 Leash Re uired, No person having the
care, c arge or control o any dog shall permit or
allow the dog to be present upon any beach, street,
alley, park or public place in the City unless such
dog is securely restrained by a leash or chain not ex-
ceeding six feet in length. Any police or other City
enforcement officer may order that the owner or person
having the care, charge or control of any dog determined
to be in violation of this section shall immediately
remove said dog from such beach, street, alley, park or
public place. This section shall not be construed as
allowing dogs on leashes in the areas from which -dogs
are prohibited as designated by Sections 70040030,
7,040040, and 7,040050 >"
SECTION 20 This ordinance shall be published once in
• the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effec-

tive 30 days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 28th
day of August , 1967, and was adopted on the 11th day
of September , 1967, by the following vote, to wits
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Rogers, Parsons, Marshall,
Gruber, Cook, Forgit, Shelton
NOES, COUNCILMEN:
None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None
