L+ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, FIRING THE RATE PER CENTUM AND LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF.NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES. The City Council of the city of Newport Beach do resolve and declare as follows; let. Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach which is taxable therein for municipal purpose's, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various departments of the city of Newport Beach for the current fiscal year. 2nd. Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of One Dollar three cents ($1,03) on each one hundred dollars of value designated for each fund as follows; For the current expense fund - .:For the library fund---- - - - - -- Total tax levy---------- - - - - -- One Dollar ($1.00) Three cents ($x.03) One Dollar three cents ($1.03) 3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax for the purpose of.raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding and unpaid municipal bonds of the city of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at 2 if thirty -two (32) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) I 1 2 3 4 • 5 6 7. 8 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17' 18 19 20 -21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 RO"ND THOMPSON ATTORNEY AT LAW SANTA ANA. CAL,P. of value, and the same shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other municipal taxes are collected excepting upon property annexed at an election held the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as Corona Del Mar, provided, that the said taxes herein levied shall be exclusive of any tax 260 - levied for the payment of interest and principal of $270,000.00 bonds.of the City of Newport Beach issued and sold for the ? 90 completion of the municipal water system thereof, and $405,000.00 bonds for the city of Newport Beach issued and sold for the construction and improvement of jetties in the city of Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and $160,000.00 bonds of the City of. Newport Beach, for the acquisition, con- struction and completion, by the city of Newport Beach, of a certain municipal improvement, to -wit, the improvement of the municipal harbor by deepening and dredging the Channel, and by the acquisition and Construction of various groins for the purpo of controlling the tide and protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, and including for said purpose the acquisition of lands and rights of way, which said bonds are known and designat as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929 4th. Resolved,.that.in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient -266 money to pay the annual interest on $270,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for. said City, and for the further purpos 5 90 of paying the annual interest on.-$4059000.00 bonds of the City _2_ F r 1 of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the erection and construction 2 of jetties and the improvement of said jetties, issued, outstandin 3 and unpaid of the city of Newport Beach, and known as the Jetty 4 Bonds of 1927, and also such part of the principal thereof as shal • 5 become due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy _ 6 in and for said City, and for the further purpose of paying the �GL - 7 annual interest on $170,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach, 8 issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor of the City of 9 Newport Beach, and the construction of various groins for the 10 purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing jettie 11 and shore lands, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city of 12 Newport Beach, and known as the Newport Beach Harbor Improvement 13 Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the principal thereof as 14 shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax 15 levy in and for said City. 16 The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of paying 17 the interest and principal of said water bonds and said jetty 18 bonds, and said Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, 70 19 as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at eighty -six (86) cents on each 20 one hundred dollars ($100.00) of value. 21 5th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes 22 herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property 23 within the City of Newport Beach a.tex of ten (10) cents on each 24 one hundred dollars ($100.00) for advertising purposes, pursuant 25 to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried 26 by a majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an election 27 held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on 28 the 24th day of September, 1918. 29 6th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the 3 City of Newport Beach, a tax of I (X) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment Of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 8th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City /T of Newport Beach, a tax of ftkenty -four (24) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said 1911 district. 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ROUND THOMPSON. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable pro- party within Municipal Improvement District No. 4 of the City of Newport Beach a tax of thirty (30) cents on each one hundred dol- lars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of s interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, on all of the taxable property within Municipal Improvement District No. 7 of the city of Newport Beach, a tax of thirty —five (35) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00). of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi — annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 12th. Delinquencies having occurred in the payment of assessments and interest thereon for the work done and improve- ments made in the city of Newport Beach, pursuant to the resolutions. I Resolution of Intention No. 477, passed, adopted and approved on the 5th day of November, 1926; Resolution of Intention No. 503,.passed, adopted and approved on the 29th day of April, 1929; 1 Resolution of Intention No. 543, passed, adopted and approved on the 12th day of November, 1929; Resolution of Intention No. 581, passed, adopted and approved on the 3rd day of March, 1930; 4' Resolution of Intention No. 583, passed, adopted and approved on the 17th day of March, 1930; Resolution of Intention No. 621, passed, adopted and ia- approved on the 15th day of September, 1930. The property upon which the assessments and interest were a lien having, on account of said delinquencies, been sold to the City of Newport Beach,.and there being no available funds in the treasury of the city of Newport Beach with which to pay the delinquent assessments and delinquent interest thereon, and the tax collector having made demand on the city Council that a suitable amount be included in the tax levy of 1934 -1935, for the purpose of providing funds with which to make such payments; is hereby levied on each one hundred dollars (100.00) of as value of the real and personal property in the city of Newport -31 Beach therein taxable for municipal purposes the sum of ten (10) cents for the purpose of making such payments.) 13th. OALIP. r,..y thereon, for the purpose of creating a special fund for the payment of principal and interest on bonds issued in accordance with law, and the said Resolution of Intention No. 622 in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the city of Newport Beach. The above and foregoing Resolution was paused, adopted and approved by the City Council of the city of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of September, 1934, by the following vote, to -wit:, n AYES, COUNCILMEN: NOES, COUNCILMEN: ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: The above and foregoing Resolution No. �=- is approved by me this 3rd day of September, 1934.
