3 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
4 OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
TO RENDER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE CITY OF
5 NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE BAINTENANCE
OF LIFE GUARD SERVICE AT ITS BEACHES.

7 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, a Municipal
8 Corporation of the State of California, is the owner of public
9 beaches located within the limits of said City, which public
10 beaches are commonly knoum, designated and referred to as East
11 Beach located in that
portion of said City known as Corona
12 del Mar, West Beach, located in that portion of said City known
13 as Corona del Mar; Balboa Ocean Front, located in that portion
14 of Newport Beach knoum as Balboa Bay Front; y Newport Front,

located in that portion of City of Newport Beach known as
16
Newport Beach; West End Beach, located in the West End of City
17
of Newport Beach; and

WHEREAS, said public beaches are being used by
19
large numbers of residents of the County of Orange, State of
20
California, generally not residents of the City of Newport Beach;

and
22
WHEREAS, said use by said non — residents of said

City increases the cost of maintenance of said public beaches; and
WHEREAS, the nature of the additional maintenance
cost to said city by reason of the use thereof by said non-
residents ofsaid City,is for additional life guard service.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
FIRST: The said City Council hereby finds the
facts as aforesaid, with reference to said public beaches located
within the limits of said City, which beaches are commonly known,

designated and referred to as East Beach, West Beach, Balboa
Ocean Front, Newport Front and West End Beach.
SECOND: Said City Council hereby, on behalf of
said City, requests financial assistance from said County of
Orange for the maintenance of additional life guard service at
said beaches, in the sum of Two Thousand (32,000.00) Dollars.
THIRD: That the said County render such financial
assistance thereby enabling said City to acquire the needed
additional life guard service„
FOURTH: That the Mayor of the City of Newport
Beach be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to certify
to the adoption of this Resolution, and the City Clerk of the City
of Newport Beach be and he is hereby authorized and instructed
to attest the same,and to forthwith forward a certified copy to
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of
California.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on
the 2nd day of August, 1943, by the following roll call vote,
to-wit:
