7 IrErEREAS, Section 1596 of the Military and Veterans
8 Code, Chapter 920, Statutes of 1943, provides:
9 "The California State war Council
10 shall establish by rule and regulation various
11 classes of civilian defense workers and the scope
12 of the duties of each class. The California State
13 Aar Council shall also adopt rules and regulations
14 prescribing the manner in which civilian defense
15
workers of each class are to be registered. All
16
such rules and regulations shall be designed to
17
facilitate the paying of workmen's compensation ", and
18

7th of October, 1943, adopted rules and regulations establish -

ing classes of civilian defense workers, the scope of the
21
duties of each class and the manner of registration of such
22
workers, and

17HEREAS, Section 1597 of the Military and Veterans
24
Code, Chapter 920, Statutes of 1943, provides:

"Any civilian defense organization which
26
both agrees to follow the rules and regulations
27
established by the California State War Council
28
pursuant to the provisions of Section 1596 of this

code and substantially complies with such rules
30
and regulations shall be certified by the Calif -
31
ornia State War Council. Upon making the certifi-
32
cation, and not before, the civilian defense

organization becomes an accredited civilian
defense organization. ", and
YMREAS, the City of Newport Beach has registered
and will hereafter register civilian defense workers for
participation in either civilian protective services or civilian
war services, and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to be-
come an "accredited civilian defense organization" in order
that injured civilian defense workers registered with it may
benefit by the provisions of Chapter 920, Statutes 1943,
NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach hereby agrees to follow the rules and regu-
lations established by the California State war Council under
date of 7 October, 1943, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 1596 of the Military and Veterans Code, Chapter 920,
Statutes of 1943. The City clerk is hereby instructed to
send two certified copies hereof to the California State
War Council.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Reso-
lution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting
thereof, held on the day of ?JAS, s 1943, by the
following vote, to -wit:
