. 2 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is the owner of Lot 15
3 in Block 42 of River Section, Newport Beach, as shown on a map
• 4 recorded in Book 4, Page 25 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of
5 Orange County, California; and
6 WHEREAS, Paul E. Doughty is the owner of Lot 13 in Block
7 140 of Canal Section, Newport Beach, as shown on a Map recorded in
8 Book 4, page 98 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County,
9 California; and
10 WHEREAS, the City is in urgent need of the property owned
11 by Paul E. Doughty, heretofore described, for the widening of Coast
12 Boulevard, in said City; and
13 WHEREAS, the properties above - mentioned are of approxi-
14 mately equal market value; and
15 WHEREAS, the City has agreed to exchange the property
16 owned by it for the property owned by said Paul E. Doughty; and
17 WHEREAS, in the judgment of the City Council of the City of
18 Newport Beach, the consideration for said exchange is fair, just,
19 and adequate, as the properties are of approximately equal market
20 value; and
21 UM,4EAS, it is.for the best interests and benefit of the
22 City of Newport Beach and the inhabitants thereof that said
23 exchange be made;
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Newport
25 Beach make, execute, and deliver to Paul E. Doughty a deed to the
26 ,properties heretofore described as being owned by it, in exchange
27 for a good and sufficient deed to the properties owned by said
• 28 Paul E. Doughty;
• 29 AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all escrow charges and
30 charges of title be at the expense of said City, and that both
31 roperties herein mentioned and described shall be conveyed to the
32joarties hereto, free and clear of all encumbrances of every nature,

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
of the City of Newport Beach be authorized, directed and instructed
to sign and execute, on behalf of the City of Newport Beach and in
the name of said City, A corporation grant deed, granting to the
said Paul E. Doughty the properties owned by said City and hereto-
fore described, and that said deed be delivered to said Paul E.
Doughty, when said named party has made, executed, and delivered a
'good and sufficient deed to the properties owned by him to the
City of Newport Beach.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly passed and adopted by.the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
19th day of August, 1946, by the following vote, wit:
