RESOLUTION NO. 4652
WHEREAS, Mks. Ida Deakins was appointed on April 5th,
19370 a member of the Library Hoard of the City of Newport Beach;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Deakins became Chairman of said Board
on July It 1948, and has served in said capacity at all times
subsequent to said date; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Deakins was instrumental in devising
plans for the construction of the present main library building
which was completed in November, 1952; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Deakins has devoted time, effort, and
leadership to the service of the City; and
WHEREAS, tars. Deakins has submitted her resignation
from said Board,
i, THERESORE, IT I9 HEREBY RESOLVED, that the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach accepts the resignation of
Mrs. Deakins and does hereby sincerely, on its own behalf and
on behalf of the residents of the City of Newport Beach, express
its appreciation to Mrs. Deakins for her untiring and devoted
service to the City of Newport Beach and for her artistic
leadership in developing library facilities of which the City

regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
10th day of June, 1957, by the following roll call vote, to
