HomeMy WebLinkAbout5211 - Loading Zone on Pacific Coast Highway(12) 1 RESOLUTION NO. • 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 22 OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A LOADING ZONE 3 ON A PORTION OF PACIFIC .COAST HIGHWAY . 4 effective only after written approval by the Department of Public 5 WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides that 6 local authorities may by resolution restrict the parking of vehicle: 7 on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted to and 8 approved in writing by the Department of Public Works; and 9 WHEREAS, the City has been requested to establish a load - 10 ing zone on the southerly side of Pacific Coast Highway between 11 Orchid and Narcissus Avenues in Corona del Mar in order to control 112 and facilitate traffic and parking of vehicles; 13 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 14 Section 1. That a loading zone 20 feet in length be 15 established along the southerly side of Pacific Coast Highway 16 between Orchid and Narcissus Avenues in Corona del Mar, beginning 17 at a point 94 feet westerly of the centerline of Orchid Avenue, 18 and terminating at a point 114 feet westerly of said centerline of 19 Orchid Avenue. 20 Section 2. That the traffic engineer be authorized and 21 directed to sign and mark said area as a loading zone as provided 22 I in Sections 3276 and 3277 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code. 23 Section 3. The provisions of this resolution shall be 24 effective only after written approval by the Department of Public 25 Works of the State of California. 26 The regulation of traffic hereby established upon the 27 state highway shall cease to be operative six months after receipt 28 by the City Council of written notice of withdrawal of approval by 29 the Department of Public Works. 30 Whenever this resolution delegates authority to a city 31 officer, or authorizes action by the City Council to regulate 321 traffic upon a state highway in any way which by state law requires • • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17' 18' 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 the prior approval of the Department of Public Works, no such officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such action by the City Council be effective with respect to any state highway without the prior approval in writing of the Department of Public Works when and to the extent required by Division 11 and Division 15 of the Vehicle Code.
