2 A RESO7LUTIO14 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH EXTENDING A'LEASE.ON A MONTH -TO-
3 MONTH BASIS

5 WHEREAS, the City executed a lease dated May 16, 1938, j
I
6 pursuant to the authorization in Resolution No. 1345 under which
7 certain property was leased to J. A. Beek for ferry landings on
8 Balboa Island and on Balboa Peninsula; and
9 WHEREAS, said lease is due to expire on the 31st day of
10 May, 1963; and
11 WHEREAS, the City and the operator of the Balboa Island
12 Ferry are now in the process of negotiating a renewal of said
13 lease for the purpose of providing ferry landings for the continued
14 operation of the Balboa Island Ferry; and
15 WHEREAS, said new lease will not be executed prior to the
16 expiration of the 1938 lease;
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said lease dated May
18 16, 1938, is hereby extended on a month -to -month basis for a period
19 not exceeding six (6) months from May 31, 1963, or until such time
20 as a new lease on said ferry landings is executed.
