RESOLUTION NO. 5853
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING NO PARKING AREAS
4 WHEREAS, Section 3272 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
5 provides that the City Council may by resolution establish no
6 parking areas and, when appropriate signs or markings are in place,
7 no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in the no parking
8 area so established; and
9 WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides that
10 local authorities may by resolution prohibit the parking of
11 vehicles on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted
12 to and approved by the Department of Public Works; and
13 WHEREAS, certain areas of Newport Boulevard on each side
14 of the street between the alley 250 feet southerly of 32nd Street
15 and a point 200 feet northerly of the extension of the northerly
16 property line of Finley Avenue are areas where parking should be
17 prohibited in order to facilitate the flow of traffic and eliminate
18 traffic hazards;
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following- describ4
20 areas of Newport Boulevard are hereby designated as no parking area
21 1. The westerly side of Newport Boulevard between
22 the alley 250 feet southerly of 32nd Street and
a point 150 feet northerly of 32nd Street.
23 2. The easterly side of Newport Boulevard between
24 32nd Street and the extension of the southerly
property line of Finley Avenue.
25 3. The easterly side of Newport Boulevard between
26 the extension of the northerly property line
of Finley Avenue and a point 200 feet northerly.
?7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said prohibition on parking
28 with respect to the state highway is subject to the approval in
29 writing of the Department of Public Works of the State of Californi,
30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the city traffic engineer is
31 authorized and directed to appropriately sign and mark said areas
32 1 to indicate that parking is prohibited as provided in Section 3272

of the Newport Beach Municipal Code, subject, however, to the prior
approval in writing of the Department of Public Works of the State
of California with respect to the state highway.
