HomeMy WebLinkAbout5875 - Coastal Municipal Water Districts WWCcmec 9/24/63 RESOLUTION NO. 5875 • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY !COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH STATING NEWPORT BEACH POLICY ON THE FUNCTIONS OF COASTAL MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT WHEREAS, Coastal Municipal Water District has indicated its intention to hold a public hearing on October 8, 1963, to determine the advisability of Coastal changing its existing policy from being an agent of the Metropolitan Water District to a policy of engaging in the construction and operation of other improve- ments throughout the district consisting of reservoirs and dis- tribution systems; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is one of the member agencies of Coastal Municipal Water District and has a significant interest in its policies and operation; and WHEREAS, it is commendable for public agencies engaged in the distribution and sale of water to be concerned with an adequate source of supply and distribution system; and WHEREAS, heretofore the member agencies of Coastal have each assumed the responsibility for the construction and operation of storage facilities and distribution systems and Coastal has maintained its policy of acting as intermediary between Metropol- itan Water District and the local agencies or districts and such policy has been acceptable to the districts and generally satis- factory; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the policy of the City of Newport Beach is to have Coastal presently continue in its current role and to assume no additional functions with respect to the storage and distribution of water but when the opportunity arises to participate in and assume an active role in the coordination of a program to provide a more adequate supply of water for Coastal and all of Orange County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Newport Beach believes the most efficient method of providing storage capacity and distribution 0 facilities in the member agencies is for such agencies to assume the responsibility for such facilities either individually or on a cooperative basis by those agencies which feel the necessity for additional storage capacity and distribution facilities.
