1 RESOLUTION NO. 5880
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
3 CONTRACT WITH ORANGE COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT

51 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach intends to realign and
6 improve Jamboree Road southerly of Palisades Road; and
7 WHEREAS, the City had planned an 80' bridge across San Diego
8 Creek which would be equivalent to the existing bridge; and
9 WHEREAS, Orange County Flood Control District plans to widen
10 San Diego Creek Channel to approximately 360' at its crossing
11 of Jamboree Road; and
12 WHEREAS, it is mutually advantageous for the City and said
13 Flood Control District to share the cost of construction of a
14 longer bridge as necessary to span the proposed channel; and
15 WHEREAS, a contract has been prepared under which the Flood
16 Control District would pay to the City a portion of the cost of
17 constructing the longer bridge approximately equal to the amount
18 by which the cost of the bridge will be increased because of the
19 greater length; and
20 WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the terms and con -
21 ditions of the said proposed agreement and finds the same to be
22 fair and equitable and in the interests of the City of Newport
23 Beach and in the public interest;
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council approves
25 said contract under which the Flood Control District is obligated
26 to pay the City approximately 280/360 of the cost of construction
27 of the proposed bridge, and the Mayor and City Clerk be and are
28 hereby authorized and directed to execute the same on behalf of
29 the City, upon being advised that said contract has been approved
30 by tlie�ioard_of Supervisors of Orange County Flood Control District,
31 ADOPTED this 28th day of October 1963.
