A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT.BEACH ESTABLISHING NO PARKING. AREAS

WHEREAS, Section 3272 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
5
provides that the City Council may by resolution establish no
6
parking areas and, when appropriate signs or markings are in place,
7
no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in the no parking
8
area so established; and

WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the vehicle Code provides that
10
local authorities may by resolution prohibit the parking of vehicles
11
on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted to and
12
approved by the Department of Public Works; and
13
WHEREAS, the area of Pacific Coast Highway on both sides
14
of the street between Bayside Drive and Malabar Drive is an area
15
where parking should be prohibited from March 20, 1964, to March 30,
16
1964, in order to facilitate the flow of traffic and eliminate
17
traffic hazards;

NOW,,-THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED that both sides of Pacific
19
Coast Highway between Bayside Drive and Malabar Drive are hereby
20
designated as no parking areas from March 20, 1964, to March 30,
21
1964.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said prohibition on parking
23
is subject to the approval in writing of the Department of Public
24
Works of the State of California and that upon receiving such writ -
25
ten approval the city traffic engineer is authorized and directed
26
to appropriately sign and mark said areas to indicate that parking
27
is prohibited as provided in Section 3272 of the Newport Beach
28
Municipal Code.

ADOPTED this 9th day of March, 1964.
