• 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A NO.PARKING AREA

4 WHEREAS, Section 3272 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
5 provides that the City Council may by resolution establish no
6 parking areas and, when appropriate signs or markings are in place,,
7 no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in the no parking
8 area so established; and
9 WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides that
10 local authorities may by resolution prohibit the parking of vehicle
11 on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted to and
12 approved by the Department of Public Works; and

13 WHEREAS, the southerly side of Pacific Coast Highway
14 between Hazel Drive and Poppy Avenue is an area where parking
15 should be prohibited in order to facilitate the flow of traffic
16 and eliminate traffic hazards;
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the southerly side
18 of Pacific Coast Highway between Hazel Drive and Poppy Avenue is
19 hereby designated as a no parking area.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said prohibition on parking
21 is subject to the approval in writing of the Department of Public
22 Works of the State of California and that upon receiving such writ -
23 ten approval the city traffic engineer is authorized and directed
24 to appropriately sign and mark said area to indicate that parking
25 is prohibited as provided in Section 3272 of the Newport Beach
26 Municipal Code.
27 ADOPTED this 23rd day of March, 1964.
