A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO

INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING .
PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF- JAMBOREE ROAD

WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to improve

Jamboree Road from Pacific Coast Highway to Ford Road; and

GdBMI YAS, Jamboree Road is an important artery in the

County of Orange and of general County interest; and

WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 o:

the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a county, if it so desires
11
to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway
12
Users Tax Fund for aid to any city in the improvement, construction
13
or repair of a street within a city; and
14
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appro-
15
priate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road
16
Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1965 a sum of money for the
17
improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County
18
in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing
19
Program;
20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
21
the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors
22
of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds
23
the amount of $212,000, said amount to be matched by funds from sail
24
City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Jamboree Roi
25
from Pacific Coast Highway to Ford Road, and for the acquisition of
26
necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisition of nigh
27
of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement;
28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
29
the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and
30
acquisition of rights of way on Jamboree Road, in the manner pro -
31
vided, is in the general County interest,
32
BE IT FU1TI-MR RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the city
33
Of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial

Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of
the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for
fiscal year 1965.
ADOPTED this 14th day of December, 1964.
