5 ki;. <• °' , a vacancy has occurred in the City Council as a
6 result of the resignation of Councilman James B. Stoddard effective
7 December 13, 1955; and
8 Section 403 of the Charter provides that such a
9 vacancy skull be filled by appointment by the City Council of a
10 qualified person from the district in which the vacancy has occurred,
11 such appointee to hold office until the first Tuesday following the
12 next general municipal election and until his successor qualifies;
13 and
14 T AMRUR �S, the City Council finds that _ Robert H. Shelton
15 is a qualified person from the district in
16 which the vacancy exists;
17 MT-,,Y, Tl 'L FG , BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
18 City of Newport Beach that Robert H. Shelton be
19 appointed to the City Council from the Seventh District.
20 BE, IT lURT00, LESOLVED that such appointment shall be
21 effective from the date of the adoption of this resolution until
22 Tuesday, April 19, 1956, which is the Tuesday following the next
23 general municipal election, and until a successor from the Seventh
24 District qualifies.
