RESOLUTION NO. 8256
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH OPPOSING SENATE BILL 1930
WHEREAS, the 1972 Legislature enacted SB 90
(Reagan- Moretti Tax Reform Program) which among other things
provides that the State is obligated to pay the full cost of
any new or increased level of service of State - mandated
local programs; and
WHEREAS, SB 1930 provides that a change in the
provisions of any public employees' retirement system shall
not be considered a new State - mandated program or an increased
level of service of an existing State program, thereby
avoiding the obligation of SB 90; and
WHEREAS, it is obvious that SB 1930 is in direct
conflict with the spirit and intent of the "Reagan.--Moretti
Tax Reform Program ";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby expresses its opposition
to Senate Bill 1930.
