RESOLUTION NO. 8326
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT OF
AN ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANT FIFTH DISTRICT
SEAT ON THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
WHEREAS, the recent tragic death of Supervisor
Ronald Caspers has created a vacant seat from the Fifth District
on the Orange County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the people of the Fifth District should
have the choice of who will represent them and their special
problems and goals, separate and apart from political interests,
and a special election would insure this freedom of choice;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that it hereby expresses its
support of the electoral process to fill the vacant Fifth
District seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors which
presently exists.
