A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ENDORSING THE
COMMUNITY ACTION ENERGY CONSERVATION
• PROGRAM
WHEREAS, a "Project Independence" energy conserva-
tion program has been undertaken in Newport Center, the Irvine
Industrial Complex, and in local residential areas; and
WHEREAS, this program seeks to recognize the achieve-
ments of energy- conscientious citizens and community institutions;
and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that such conscientious citizens
receive proper recognition for their role in meeting important
national goals; and
WHEREAS, self -help efforts of this order are in our
mutual interest of reducing energy consumption with volunteer
efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of Newport Beach commends and endorses the Project Independence
energy conservation program now underway as a proper and laud-
able effort to increase energy conservation and promote careful
and thoughtful use of our natural resources.
ADOPTED this 25th day of August, 1975.
