RESOLUTION NO -. 8631
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING
• THE RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT
OF THE GENERAL PLAN TO DELETE THE
PROPOSAL FOR A HIKING TRAIL AND THE
• POSSIBILITY OF A BICYCLE TRAIL IN BUCK
GULLY (AMEND-KENT NO. 29)
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted the Recreation
and Open Space Element of the Newport Beach General Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Recreation and Open Space Element sets
forth objectives and supporting policies which will serve as
a guide for the future planning and development of the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the City Charter
of the City of Newport Beach, the Planning Commission has held
a public hearing to consider an amendment to the Recreation and
Open Space Element to delete the proposal for a hiking trail
and the possibility of a bicycle trail in Buck Gully as follows:
1) Delete paragraph 3 on page 61 of the Recreation
and Open Space Element;
2) Remove the hiking trail designation for Buck
Gully from the Open Space Plan (map); and
3) Add the following paragraph to the top of page
52 of the Recreation and Open Space Element:
"The potential bikeway in Buck Gully was
further considered during the October
1975 General Plan Amendment session, and
pursuant to General Plan Amendment No.
29, has been deleted from any further
consideration."
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended to
City Council said amendment to the Recreation and Open Space
Element of the Newport Beach General Plan; and
• WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
• to consider said amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council

of the City of Newport Beach does hereby adopt General Plan
Amendment No. 29 as described hereinabove.
ADOPTED this 10th day of November , 1975.
