A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH HONORING KWIZ RADIO FOR
FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF
ORANGE COUNTY
WHEREAS, KWIZ was the first radio station to be
located in Orange County, and began broadcasting on November 6,
1926; and
WHEREAS, KWIZ has been a major news and entertainment
source for the citizens of Newport Beach and other Orange County
cities for fifty years; and
WHEREAS, KWIZ's involvement in Public Service and
Public Affairs has made it a source of information for the
residents of Newport Beach, as well as other Orange County
cities; and
WHEREAS, KWIZ aspires to motivate its listeners to
participate in community and civic affairs; and
WHEREAS, KWIZ's contributions to community affairs
have consistently been outstanding in air time and civic
involvement for fifty years; and
WHEREAS, KWIZ has continually strived to maintain a
professional staff in areas of management, programing, public
affairs, news, sports and advertising;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby lauds Radio Station KWIZ
for its continuous outstanding operation as a source of news
and entertainment for Orange County and a vehicle for public
affairs discussions on its Fiftieth Anniversary Novemer 6, 1976.
ADOPTED this 27th day of September 1976.
