RESOLUTION NO. 9496
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING AN URGENT NECESSITY
FOR THE REPAIR OF CERTAIN STREETS AND WATERLINES
PURSUANT TO SECTION 1110 OF THE CHARTER
WHEREAS, on December 24, 1978, certain waterlines
in the City streets ruptured due to corrosion; and
WHEREAS, said waterlines are located generally in
the vicinity of San Joaquin Hills Road and Jamboree and Dover
between Cliff Drive and Pacific Coast Highway; and
WHEREAS, Section 1110 of the Newport Beach City
Charter provides that public works contracts for street and
water main repairs may be let without advertising for bids
if such work must be done on an urgency basis for the preser-
vation of the public welfare,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby deems it to be of
urgent necessity to repair the streets and waterlines as
stated herein for the preservation of life, health and property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall
require at least five (5) affirmative votes of the City Council
for passage.
