A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH IMPLEMENTING SALARY AND
BENEFIT INCREASES FOR EMPLOYEES WHO ARE
MEMBERS OF THE NEWPORT BEACH PROFESSIONAL/
TECHNICAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 3505,
the City of Newport Beach, through its negotiating team, has, on
numerous occasions, met and conferred, in good faith, with
representatives of the Newport Beach Professional /Technical
Employees Association concerning salaries, benefits and other
terms and conditions of employment for fiscal year 1981 -82; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and the Newport
Beach Professional /Technical Employees Association have been
unable to reach an agreement as to the salaries, benefits and
other terms and conditions of employment to be accorded members
of the Newport Beach Professional /Technical Employees Association
during the fiscal year 1981 -82; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of implementing,
unilaterally, its final proposal to the Newport Beach
Professional /Technical Employees Association for increasing
compensation paid to its members.
WHEREAS, the final offer of the City of Newport Beach
to Newport Beach Professional /Technical Employees Association for
increased compensation and benefits called for a 9.5% increase in
total compensation as defined in the salary survey of Orange
County, conducted by the League of California Cities, with the
City of Newport Beach as a part of this 9.5% increase to pay one -
Athalf of the employees PERS contribution rate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the salary ranges for the members
of the Newport Beach Professional /Technical Employees
Association, for fiscal year 1981 -82 shall be as set forth in
Appendix "A" which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference, effective July 1, 1981.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in addition to the increase
in salaries as specified above, the City of Newport Beach shall
pay one -half of the employees PERS contribution rate for all
members of Newport Beach Professional /Technical Employees
Association.
