• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE FORMATION OF A
NON - PROFIT CORPORATION ENTITLED NEWPORT
BEACH /CABO SAN LUCAS SISTER CITY OF AMERICA
CORPORATION AND AUTHORIZING THE AD HOC CITY
COUNCIL SISTER CITY STUDY COMMITTEE TO APPLY
FOR AND PAY MEMBERSHIP FEES OF $250.00 TO
SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAI;
WHEREAS, a non - profit corporation may be established to
formalize the Sister City relationship between Newport Beach and
Cabo San Lucas; and
WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc City Council Sister City Study
Committee has determined that a sister city organization which is
formally incorporated under the State of California statutes is
most desirable; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Newport Beach
wishes to minimize the costs in achieving, to the greatest extent
possible, many of the goals and objectives of the corporation;
and
WHEREAS, in connection with a sister city operation,
application to Sister Cities International and payment of a fee
of $250.00 thereto is necessary therefor; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach as follows:
• 1. The City Council approves the formation of a non-
profit corporation entitled Newport: Beach /Cabo San Lucas Sister
City of America Corporation.
2. The Ad Hoc City Council Sister City Study Committee
is hereby authorized
and directed
to apply for an
pay membership
• fees of $250.00 to
Sister Cities
International
to further the
formalization of the relationship between Newport Beach and Cabo
San Lucas.
