HomeMy WebLinkAbout11059 - Dunes Development CommitteeRESOLUTION NO. 11059 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE AD HOC CITY COUNCIL DUNES DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE WHEREAS, on February 9, 1981, the City filed a lawsuit • against the County of Orange and Newport Dunes, Inc. regarding the plan for redevelopment of the Newport Dunes site; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to investigate the possibility of resolving the issues of the Newport Dunes litigation, including land use, intensity of development, traffic and off and on -site improvements through the certainty of negotiation rather than the vagaries of litigation; and WHEREAS, the development of the Newport Dunes area is an exceedingly complex issue, with ramifications which affect many aspects of City development; and WHEREAS, the purpose of this Resolution is to establish the Ad Hoc City Council Committee to study the development of Newport Dunes and to report back to the City Council within 60 days; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the duties and responsibilities of the Ad Hoc City Council Committee on Newport Dunes development shall be as follows: 1. The Committee shall consist of two members, appointed by the Mayor. 2. The Committee shall report back to the City Council on or before November 23, 1981 regarding the development of Newport Dunes. 3. The Committee shall act to instruct staff regarding negotiation with the County of Orange and Newport Dunes, Inc. regarding the intensity of development, • type of development and off and on -site improvements that are necessary to resolve the litigation. 4. The Committee shall sunset December 31, 1981, unless extended by Resolution of the City Council.
