Subject: SEAL Grant for Newport Beach Restaurant Week

At its June 11 meeting, the City Council approved awarding special event grants to 12
community events in FY 2013 -14. Each event organizer must enter into an agreement
with the City in order to receive their grant.
The Newport Beach Restaurant Association Business Improvement District (NBRA BID)
is to receive a $8,000 grant for its January 2014 Newport Beach Restaurant Week
event. Since the NBRA BID is actually a part of the City of Newport Beach and not a
separate entity (unlike the other 11 grant recipients), staff does not see a need to enter
Into an agreement for this event.
For the last two years, the grant funding has been processed without an agreement. If
you agree that we should follow the same process for the 2014 Newport Beach
Restaurant Week event, please sign below and the $8,000 will be transferred to the
NBRA BID account.
