The special inspection and geotechnical portion of the project will ultimately be dependent on the approved construction schedule: Weekends, holidays, and overtime hours are not included in this proposal. Our proposed scope of special inspection and geotechnical services are based on the required continuous inspectionof all welding and dye penetrant testing. Special Inspection and Geotechnicai Services • Provide field special inspection and geotechnical services on an as- needed basis, including verifying material or mill certifications. Field tests will be performed in such a way that interested parties may witness such tests in order to determine the adequacy of certain materials for use on the project. • Soils technician during earthwork,, grading and utilities trench backfili. These will be provided to the owperlclient for review. • Any inspection or field testing activity performed outside of the scope contained herein will he approved in advance in writing by the City, and charged according to our attached schedule of fees for this specific project. Approve Amendment No. 1 to On -Call Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Arroyo Geotechnical for supplemental materials testing and geotechnical services specifically for the Irvine Avenue and Dover Drive 24" Water Main contract. DISCUSSION: The Irvine Avenue and Dover Drive 24" Water Main contract was awarded to Vadnais Corporation on June 13, 2006. As part of the contract, $50,000 was established for materials testing and geotechnical services. An On -Call Professional Services Agreement with Arroyo Geotechnical was approved by the City Council at its June 27, 2006 meeting. Currently, the contract is 75% complete. During construction, several unforeseen utilities and excessive groundwater conditions were encountered causing delays. In order to continue with the materials testing and geotechnical services for this project, Arroyo Geotechnical is requesting an additional $31,980. In accordance with the On- Call PSA with Arroyo Geotechnical, costs in excess of $50,000 require City Council approval. This exemption covers the maintenance and alteration of existing public facilities with negligible expansion of facilities in areas that are not environmentally sensitive.
