(Alameda, CA) is the $13.8 million for In the pre -award statement, RDA listed the same equipment (tug and barges) that were previously used for Phase I. Contractor anticipates using the same field team to complete the project. Anticipated start date is October / November 2009. Dredging —Lower Newport Bay Still working with the Planning Dept. to redefine the scope of work which will fully analyze all of the available contaminant disposal options before proceeding with and EIR. This strategy is favored by our Planning Dept. and will be best for community buy -in for whatever disposal option is chosen. As of now, all disposal options are up for consideration. Testing Still negotiating with the DMMT (Dredge Material Management Team) on the final round of bioaccumulation testing (the effect the sediment has on the tissues of the animals.) Primarily concerned with Mercury and DDT threshold values. Asking City Council for additional $75k to complete the project at the September 22 meeting. An RFP is being prepared and will be out in the next few weeks. The current permit has been around for 20 years with several renewals. It is time to open it up to the competitive bid process. Flooding Issue at W. Edgewater (Between Lindo and Island Ave.) Neighborhood has complained for years of severe flooding on Island Ave during storms and high tides. Grassy area and bulkhead is public property with easements. Met with neighborhood to discuss solutions: Raise bulkhead Raise the lawn area in a mound to trap water Raise sidewalk Anticipate a solution in - 6 months. KE A I Newport to Ensenada & Border Run Regattas September 8 — Joint meeting at Harbor Patrol with both regatta committee members. Concerns with: Safety with many boats sailing down the coast. Confusion with starting lines — Balboa Pier vs. Little Corona (about 1.25 miles) Start times Both events will apply for Newport Beach Activities Permits with input from Harbor Resources and Harbor Patrol. 34 & 35 Linda Isle Existing dock system was permitted and installed in 1997.
